About the Artist

Hello! I'm Jill. Thank you for taking a look at my shop and supporting me! And if you've bought any of my pieces, congrats we're friends now :)

Now if we're going to be friends, here's a little bit about me:

When I was a kid, I was very interested in art. I was drawing all the time (manga style, which is surprising for most who know me). I tried to get into traditional art and began taking painting lessons when I was 10 at Hobby Lobby. And who would've thought? Turns out 10 year old me did not enjoy painting and my art journey kind of ended there for the time being. In middle school, I became interested in theatre and then in highschool I did colorguard - so there wasn't a lot of time for art. Despite me not creating and practicing, I was always so interested in art history so I spent a lot of my free time in museums and staring at paintings, studying them.

Come college, I became part of the Bob Ross wave sweeping across social media. So before I would go to bed I would watch a Bob Ross episode (ASMR-purposes) and I started to understand the art process and different painting techniques. Eventually I would try to follow a tutorial myself and found that enjoyed it way more than I did when I was 10. In December 2019, after listening to the NPR Life Kit podcast talking about the importance of the mind-body connection through creativity, I decided to start. I began painting, learning, and progressing as a self-taught artist.

Now I do this along with double majoring in International Studies and French, minoring in Business Foundations, and working my corporate job as an intern (Yes, I'm a busy person but I wouldn't have it any other way). And I am just so happy and proud that I have this passion project. It is incredible to see something you created be a reality. So if you made it this far, thank you for your support and I am so grateful you are here.
